CR-5000 Board Designer, the circuit board design system at the heart of the CD-5000 series, has a full complement of basic functions for routing and art work, to make the design work of board designers more efficient. Including the routing commands, which can be used in high precision and high speed design operations, and the art work commands which allow flexible editing, Board Designer boasts a full range of functions that can make the difficult work of today's board designers more efficient to the maximum extent possible.


In order to carry out high speed circuits design on ever smaller and higher density boards, engineers have to take into account a variety of electrical constraints. With Board Designer, detour paths are automatically drawn up for patterns with isometric routing specifications and minimum routing length limits, and patterns which do not conform are corrected. The form of the detour (accordion, trombone) can also be specified. In addition, the negative and positive signals set in differential pairs can be wired at differential routing intervals.

Seamless Optimization of PCB Design Processes


The superiority of CR-5000 Board Designer does not just lie in its wealth of routing and art work functions. It shows its true worth in tight coordination with the processes that come before and after board design, such as the initial process of circuit design, and the compilation of manufacturing data.


Intimate coordination with circuit diagram data not only allows designation of components and transfer of attributes from the circuit diagram side, but, for example, also receiving information from the circuit diagram data for multiple destinations and designing them on one circuit board (option), as well as back and forward annotation between circuit and board design.
In board design, design reuse is an important design method which increases design efficiency while ensuring reliability through the use of designs with a proven record. CR-5000's integrated design environment allows the realization of efficient design reuse while maintaining the consistency of circuit and board design.

Also, with Board Designer, it is easy to use gerber data frequently used in transactions between manufacturers and to reuse existing design assets as Board Designer data (option). Gerber data can be easily compiled as Board Designer data by using special commands without time consuming editing operations.

Board Producer, an option that comes with Board Designer, avoids reworking in the circuit board manufacturing process through the compilation and output of high quality board production data. Board Designer is a board design tool which has been designed to reliably output high quality manufacturing data to the manufacturing process.

Utilities to Support Design Environment

CR-5000 Board Designer has utilities for the efficient construction and maintenance of libraries and CAD files.


●Integrated management function of component libraries


Many functions are provided such as the Component Manager which allows one-stop registration of component logic attributes, pin layout, gate data, shape data, circuit diagram symbols etc, the Library Searcher which allows customization of search conditions, more efficient component drafting through shape generation by the parametric method, library comparison, copy and multiple delete functions which allow efficient utilization of the libraries at multiple locations, and other functions.

●CAD File Manager


This is a dedicated file manager for System Designer, CR-8000 Design Gateway and Board Designer. It allows view switching between circuit diagrams, boards and panels in accordance with the design phase, setting of circuit diagrams and circuit boards from different directories for each version number, coordinating parent boards and child boards during shared design, and linking for production panels and child boards.
